Woof Woof! We are Jake & Jaws. We are the inspiration, models & taste testers of Hound House Specialties. Thank you for stopping by to meet us and look around our...well our mom's...website. (It's really ours! shhhh)

We would like to tell you more about ourselves and how we became a part of Hound House Specialties, but mom says we should take turns so here goes!

My name is Jake, formerly Jake BeGone. I am a brindle colored, handsome greyhound. I raced in Iowa and Wisconsin and I was good! I have won races and loved going as fast as I can with the wind in my fur...but it was time to retire (but I still love to run!) I found my forever home when GPA took me in and paired me with a great family. I had to go to the vet and get ready so I was as handsome as could be when I was gonna meet them! I was so excited my mouth wouldn't stop shivering! The day finally came to meet them and my lovely foster parents brought me to them. I walked in the house on my leash, with my head held high, nice and calm and walked up to them to introduce myself. They pet me, and talked with my foster parents and took me for a walk, oh and I saw a squirrel, but they would not let me chase him. We all fell in love that very day. They could not take me home that night though, I had one more night at my foster house to say good-bye to that great family and let my new family go buy everything I needed. The next morning I met them again and jumped right up in there car to start my retirement in my forever home! It was the happiest day of my life!

My name is Jaws, formerly PK's Jaws 'N' Pawz. I am a red fawn colored handsome greyhound. I used to race in Corpus Christi, Texas. For some reason one day we all stopped racing and none of us hounds knew why? We loved to run! We found out that the track had closed, something went wrong and there was no more money. We were scared and did not know what would happen to us now, where would we go? Well after what seemed a long time, we met some really nice people who picked us up and took us on a long, long car ride. Finally we ended in a place called Minnesota. I went to a foster home for awhile and they told me they would find me a forever home. Everything was so new and kinda scary! One day my foster mom brought me to a store with other greyhounds and animals and treats everywhere!! There was a woman there who pet me right away and told me how handsome I was, and scritched (yes scritched, scratched is just to hard) my ears. She had such a friendly voice and I gave her a kiss on the cheek to tell her I liked her. After she talked with the other people she took me to her car, I jumped right in cause I liked this lady. We drove another long way (but not as long as the fist car ride) and when we got to a house, she said this is your forever home and your new family. She brought me in to meet Jake and we became best friends right away! It was the happiest day of my life!

Both of us love our forever homes and are enjoying our retirement being couch potatoes! Well ok, we are only couch potatoes most of the time. We also love going for walks, running in fenced in areas, getting treats, trying on collars, going to events to meet other greyhounds, sleeping with mom & dad, playing with our skin brother (that is mom's son, he has autism and we try to help and be nice to him because he is nice and plays with us)

We have ropes, tennis jacks, teddy bears and more toys that we love to toss around the living room. Mom & dad always tell us to pick them up when we are done, but we like them to be right where we left them so we can find them again!

Our role in Hound House Specialties

Well we don't want to brag...but....we are the inspiration that started and keeps Hound House Specialties going! Wow what a big honor our mom gave us...wait...is it a big responsibility too? because we can't have it cut into our couch time! Oh, mom just said it's not responsibility...whew! So as greyhounds, (and also other dogs too) we are sensitive to some things and our mom & dad only want the best for us. They say we are part of the family and we deserve the best, just like them. So our mom did lots of research, tried different recipes, baked a lot and finally came up with some yummy dog treats! We are taste testers and get a sample of each batch to make sure they are just as perfect as the last. We know when mom is baking because we smell it and sometimes pace a little just waiting for our next yummy treat! Mom says only a sample though because we will get sick if we only eat treats....bummer mom! But she takes good care of us, so it must be true!

We are also models for Hound House Specialties. Our mom did even more research, and through trial & error, and a lot more, started bringing us awesome collars. She would try them on us and tell us how handsome we looked, and what a great color that was on us and take a lot of pictures! Well we now have a lot of collars to wear for different holidays, and walks and whenever we want to just wear something different!

So now that you know about us and what we do for Hound House Specialties, we will let our mom take over for the rest of it. Woof Woof! We hope to see you at our Online Store for the great products our mom makes!

Hound House Specialties Owner

Hello, my name is Bobi. I founded Hound House Specialties in 2007 after the adoption of our wonderful greyhounds. My goal was to create great tasting treats for dogs that were not full of additives and unnecessary ingredients. I wanted to pronounce every ingredient in my dogs treats and know what was going into their diet. After spending a lot of time researching I created recipes that were very simple and had very few ingredients. My hounds loved them and wanted more and more!

I also loved the vast collection of collars I could find for my greyhounds, but could never really find the patterns I was looking for. So once again, I hit the books, the internet, the 'seasoned' greyhound owners and many more people & places for information. After much trial & error and more research, I created beautiful, unique martingale collars. I would try them on Jake & Jaws and they looked stunning! Jaws believes EVERY collar is his! If I leave them where he can reach, he will try to take them, so I have learned to keep them out of his reach!

After my friends and family would start asking me to make their dogs treats and collars I realized there was an opportunity for me! I then started Hound House Specialties and we have grown a lot since 2007! We continue to grow and hope to add more products to offer our great customers!
